I don't know where you found the "101", but that's not a Colt model number. If it uses percussion caps and loose powder, it could be a Model 1851, 1861, or 1862. If it uses cased ammunition and is really 36 caliber and not 38, it must be the Thuer Conversion of one of those models. Any of these could be worth a fair amount. An original case, especially if it contains the accessories (bullet mold, cleaning rod, tin of percussion caps) can be worth from a few hundred dollars to over a thousand. If you can give a good description, including the barrel length, overall length, and ALL markings on the gun and where they are found, and maybe a couple of clear photos, I may be able to help you identify and hopefully estimate a value.
Depending on the quality of the piece, original markings, finish, and etc the value ranges at a minimum of $500-$2000 for a mint piece

$85-$100 in top condition. sales@countrygunsmith.net
Anywhere from $220 to 350, 200 with 70% condition and such, $300 to $350 with original parts and around 90 to 95% pure original condition
This particular M1911A1 was made in 1943. (Source: http://www.sightm1911.com/1911Production.htm) Value depends upon the condition of the gun. A possible range of value would be $400 to $1,500.
