The history of Great Britain has many unique features. This answer does not ignore them all, and they range from the birth of the Industrial Revolution to its huge world empire. In modern times, it can be said, without prejudice, that the size of its empire at its peak, is amazing when compared to its small population. For example, Spain, France and Russia had larger populations than did the British, however the former empires paled in comparison the Great Britain's.
