A boat's draft usually refers to what depth of water the boat needs not to run aground.

One of the features that made the vikings such succcesful raiders was that their boats, the Long ships, were both sea worthy enough to cross big stretches of open waters while still having a shallow enough draft so they could sail right up rivers and attack towns and settlements before they had time to defend themselves.

Answer

A viking boat draft is when you drAFT THE way that you are going to design the boat before you make it.
