They put lamb's blood on their doors.
They are not door frames. They are called Mezuzah (in Hebrew, mezuzah means doorpost), and are a Jewish tradition. The sanctity of the Jewish home is symbolized by the Mezuzah, a small scroll affixed at the doorpost of every Jewish home, and in every room therein. What does the Mezuzah contain? It contains the two Biblical passages in which mention is made of this important commandment:"And thou shalt write them upon the door posts of thy house and upon thy gates."The verses are Deuteronomy 6:4-9 and Deuteronomy 11:13-21.
Passover and the Holocaust are two different things. Passover refers to when God passed over the Hebrews in Egypt who had the blood of the lamb on their door and only killed the first born son in the families whose homes were no covered by the blood of the lamb. See Exodus chapters 11-12.The passover festival celebrates God freeing the Hebrews from bondage in Egypt. The holocaust on the other hand refers to the more than 12 million people killed by the Nazi's during World War II, 6 million of which were Jews. The holocaust is not celebrated rather it is remembered for the tragedy that it was.
Cellars, attics, barns, cornfields, anywhere that they thought that they wouldn't be caught by the Nazis.Answerchildren were usually hid in orphanage and passed as non Jewish children because they were not required to carry any forms of identification with them AnswerSome Jewish people hid in other people's houses even when they were German as some German people wanted to help the Jews.
Open the door to their house.
You would be greeted by uniformed members of the SA - by Nazi stormtroopers. In addition, they put notices on the doors and windows.
Most likely it is some blood. To remember Moses days.Another AnswerNowadays, no one does that. That was only during the Exodus from Egypt. I think the questioner is referring to the Mezzuzah which Jewish people put on the right hand side of their doorposts, not just at Passover but always.
The blood was painted on the door posts of the homes of the Israelites.
Only if you smear goat blood over your door.
Blood was painted on the door posts of the homes of the Israelites the very first Passover in Egypt. This was so that the angel of death new which homes to pass over. This was a one time event.
when the Jews where imprisoned in Egypt< God came (according to the Jewish religion) and told Moses to lead them out of Egypt. the Pharaoh refused< so God sent the 10 plagues. the tenth plague was the Angle of Death, which killed the firstborn son of every family. the only way the Angle of Death would pass over a house would be if (as God told Moses) the Jews put goats blood on their door frame. the Jews celebrate passover as the passing over of the Angle of Death
The firstborn of all of the living creatures in Egypt. The livestock too. The only ones that weren't killed were the Hebrews, because they had put sheep's blood on their door lintels. When God saw the blood, he "Passed over". this is why the traditional Jewish meal is called the Passover meal.
it's a story from the bible - when God sent various plagues to Egypt to force the then king to release the Jewish people from slavery. God said he was going to kill the first born son of every household - but told the Jewish people to mark their doors with blood so the Holy Spirit would 'pass over' their homes, allowing their children to live.
John the Baptist calls Jesus the 'lamb of God'. - Joh 1:29. Here Jesus is being directly likened to the passover lamb. The passover lamb had to be perfect with out blemish. Jesus was born without sin, he lived a sinless life. The passover lamb had to die and it's blood was shed to save Israel's first born from death. In the same way it was necessary for Jesus to die as payment for sin. The lamb's blood had to be painted on the the door frames to show God the people were trusting Him for salvation. Salvation is the same today through faith in Jesus and His death as the payment for our sin.
In Exodus, the symbolism here is of the first Passover when the angel of death came upon Egypt. The people who had blood sprinkled on their doorposts - everyone in that house's life was spared.
It was a mark of blood from the Passover sacrifice (Exodus ch.12).It was on the lintel, the beam at the top of the door frame, not on the doorstep. Also on the door posts (the uprights on the sides of the door frame). And it was God who spared them, not the blood that saved them.
I think you mean Eliyahu
The passover feast commemorates the time when the LORD killed the first born of every Egyptian house but passed over the houses of the children of Israel.Moses was instructed to tell the children of Israel to kill a lamb and to paint some blood of the lamb on the door posts of their houses.Exo 12:12 'For I will pass through the land of Egypt on that night, and will strike all the firstborn in the land of Egypt, both man and beast; and against all the gods of Egypt I will execute judgment: I am the LORD.Exo 12:13 Now the blood shall be a sign for you on the houses where you are. And when I see the blood, I will pass over you; and the plague shall not be on you to destroy you when I strike the land of Egypt.
