In terms of numbers, Jews were the largest single group killed in the Holocaust. However, many other groups were persecuted and murdered too. The first to be systematically murdered, before the establishment of the camps, were the disabled and mentally ill. Other groups to join Jews in the camps included homosexuals, Roma, Sinti, Jehova's Witnesses, Catholic and other Priests, Communists, Socialists, Trade Unionists, Anarchists, Pacifists, People of Colour, criminals, POWs and various Eastern European nationalities, including Poles, Slavs and others. Basically, anyone the Nazis considered racially impure, genetically inferior, a burden on society or a threat to the Nazi Party.
