The Minotaur, part man, part bull.
The monster under the palace of King Minos was called the Minotaur. The Minotaur had the body of a man and the head of a bull, and ate people.
The Minotaur was the child of King Minos' wife, Pasiphae, who the gods caused to fall in love with a white bull in order to punish the King for liking the bull so much he wouldn't sacrifice it.
King Minos wisely imprisoned the Minotaur under his palace and later decreed fourteen of Athens' finest young people be fed to the monster every nine years.
This led to Theseus, Prince of Athens, setting out to kill the Minotaur, which is another story; I won't spoil it for you by telling you the end.

Minoans lived on Crete. They got their name from their legendary king, Minos. Minos built a large palace in Knossos. It was said to be so huge that you could easily lose your way. Some historians say that the palace itself was the famous labyrinth (you know, where the Minotaur lived).
in Greek mythology the minotaur lives in King Mino's maze, which was created by Daedalus, the king's inventor.the maze was based in Crete.
He wasn't a god he was the king of crete I'm not totally sure but his name may have to do with the prefix in the word Minotaur, the beast that lived in the gigantic maze (labyrinth) he had built under his palace

The Labyrinth, at Knossos on Crete.
In the labyrinth at Knossos palace, Crete. King Minos had Daedalus (the best architect ever lived) to build a labyrinth (a complicated maze, one you will never escape) to hold his step-son, the Minotaur. So the Minotaur resides in the Labyrinth. In the labyrinth beneath King Minos' Palace in Knossos. He did not live long.
It had a rather difficult lay-out with its hundreds of rooms. There is a legend about a monster - half man, half bull, eating young human beings every year sent from Athens, called the Minotaur, probably the son of Minos, the King of Crete - who lived in a labyrinth. Now historians say that the 'labyrinth ' could be the Palace of Knossos itself.
Minos (Greek: Μίνωας) was a king of Crete, son of Zeus and Europa. He ordered Daedalus and his son Icarus to build the Labyrinth where the Minotaur lived. (Minotaur= Mino-taur, is Greek for Bull of Minos).
King Minos's bull lived on the island of Crete, specifically in the labyrinth designed by the architect Daedalus. According to Greek mythology, the bull was a result of a curse placed on Minos by the god Poseidon, leading to the creation of the Minotaur, a creature that was part man and part bull. The labyrinth was constructed to contain the Minotaur and prevent it from terrorizing the people of Crete.
The monster who lived in labyrinth in Crete was Minotaur and it was killed by Theseus.
