Christopher Columbus used three ships to cross the Atlantic and discover America. They were the Nina, Santa Maria, and La Pinta. La Pinta was the fastest of the three ships, and was the one which carried Rodrigo de Triana, who first sighted America.
Santa Maria was his flagship in 1492, it ran aground in Haiti. Columbus did not like this ship, it was large and slow. The Nina survived disasters, it was Columbus's favourite vessel
