The rebel leader who became emperor after the Mongols were driven out of China was Zhu Yuanzhang. He founded the Ming Dynasty in 1368, taking the throne as the Hongwu Emperor. Zhu Yuanzhang's rise to power marked the end of Mongol rule under the Yuan Dynasty and initiated a period of Chinese self-rule and cultural restoration. His reign is noted for significant reforms and efforts to consolidate power.
Guo Zixing build a empire called the Song dynasty, this is not the Song dynasty which reigned from 927 to 1279, they consisted of peasents who were unhappy with the Mongol's rule and decided to rise against them. Another commander was Liu Futong. After these 2 people died, Zhu Yuanzhang, the first emperor of the Ming Dynasty, became the commander of these troops and then in 1368 built the Ming Dynasty and successfully chased the Mongols out of the central plains.

The Ming Dynasty was founded by the monk Zhu Yuanzhang after he overthrew the previous dynasty, the Mongol-led Yuan dynasty. He and his rebel band first eliminated all other rebel groups int the area, establishing themselves as THE rebel group. They then stormed Dadu (present dya Beijing) and burned the Yuan palaces, officially declaring Zhu the new emporor of China.

Chu Yuan Chang (1328-1398) was the founder of the Ming Dynasty in China. He started as a peasant rebel leader and eventually overthrew the Mongol-led Yuan Dynasty, establishing his own dynasty. He ruled as Emperor Hongwu and laid the foundations for the Ming Dynasty's governance and military structure.

The closest answer I could find in my World History book was -- A peasant's son, Hongwu, commanded the rebel army that drove the Mongols out of China in 1368. That year, he became the first Ming emperor. That's the answer I'm putting on my worksheet.....good luck with yours :P
