Very broad question. Sounds like a grade school homework assignment, so you'll need to do your own research. Think about this - prior to railroad, the only way to bring raw materials, farm products and manufactured goods to and from market was either by land - animal drawn vehicles or by water - barge, boat etc. It was very slow and expensive to transport by land which is why the oldest industrial cities were near waterways. With the railroad, land transportation was very cheap. You should be able to guess the effect on industrialization from this point. BTW - the US government wanted to connect both halves of the country by railroad, but it was very expensive, so they gave railroad companies alternating square miles of land on either side of any railroad they built going cross country. That and really cheap labor supplied by Chinese and Irish immigrants and recently freed slaves got the railroads built across the country.
