That would be USS Indianapolis(cruiser)sunk by a Japanese submarine(I-58)on 30 July, 1945. From what I have read and seen on TV the sinking was not noticed by the Navy as the ship didn't get off an SOS and was traveling by itself and its whereabouts got lost in the shuffle. I wonder why nobody noticed the lack of transmissions which ships, planes and communications stations ALWAYS make. Anyway the ship sank in about 12 minutes and of the approx 1,200 crew about 900 made it into the water and that was when their nightmare started. Very few life rafts launched and many just had their May Wests and that was it. Very little or no water, food or medicine. These sailors spent about 3 1/2 days in the water before being spotted by a patrol plane and rescued but the sun, sea and sharks took about 2/3rds of them. Some claim this was the greatest shark attack and devouring in history but while the number must have been huge nobody really knows. 316 sailors were pulled from the water. The captain was tried for dereliction of duty and convicted; he committed suicide in 1968. Johnnie

The record for the most interceptions thrown in a single NFL game is held by several players, with the highest being eight interceptions. This dubious record has been achieved by multiple quarterbacks, including George Blanda and Vinny Testaverde. The feat underscores the challenges quarterbacks face in reading defenses and making accurate throws under pressure. Such performances are often remembered for their rarity and the significant impact they have on the game's outcome.
