Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain was on the Union side.
I'm going to have to make the assumption that you're referring to Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain, the only American with the last name Chamberlain famous enough to be recognized by his last name alone. Joshua Lawrence Chamberlain served in the Union Arm from 1862-1865, entering the army as the Executive Officer of the 20th Maine Infantry Regiment at the rank of Lieutenant Colonel (although originally offered the position of Commanding Officer at the rank of full Colonel, which he refused) he eventually advanced to Division Commander, 1st Division, V Corps at the permanent Army rank of Brigadier General, and the rank of brevet Major General of Volunteers. Chamberlain's defense of the the Union Army's extreme left on the second day at Gettysburg (a defense for which he was ordered to hold to the last man), which concluded with his ordering a bayonet charge when his men ran out of ammunition, is thought by some historian's to have been the most crucial action of the second day at Gettysburg, saving the entire Union Army from being flanked. For this action, he was awarded the Congressional Medal of Honor. Chamberlain is equally famous for being the Union officer who formally received the surrender of the Army of Northern Virginia at Appomattox Courthouse. As the Confederate Army paraded in to surrender, he is the officer who ordered "carry arms," saluting the Confederates as they surrendered.
Neville Chamberlain was British Prime Minister until 10 May 1940 and was succeeded by Winston Churchill.
No they are not related. Joshua DOES have a half brother named Jonathan from his father's side. However, Jonathan's parent's names are different.
My favorite act of bravery was the swinging gate, done by Joshua Chamberlain. He and his regiment charges a confederate army on Little Round Top. With no ammo they flank the rebels and charge, without knowing Chamberlains regiment had no ammo, the rebels surrendered. Joshua lived through that and he was the leading unit.

Joshua Chamberlain was a professor at Bowdoin College, Maine, before he became a Union officer. He was promoted to Colonel of the 20th Maine Regiment. The 20th Maine was held in reserve during the Battle of Antietam on September 17, 1862 but would be in the forefront of battle at Fredericksburg, Virginia on December 13, 1862. The 20th Maine fought heroically to hold Little Round Top---as depicted in the movie "Gettysburg". In 1864, Chamberlain commanded a brigade in the 1st Division, Fifth Corps that he led during the Wilderness Campaign to Petersburg, Virginia. On June 18, 1864, Chamberlain was seriously wounded at the Battle of White Oak Road. Taken to a field hospital, the attending surgeon pronounced the wound to be mortal and Chamberlain was thought to be on his death bed. He was given a promotion to brigadier general, as he was not expected to live. Miracously he survived and returned to command his unit at Battle of Five Forks, in April 1865. A change in corps command after that battle placed Chamberlain in command of the 1st Division of the Fifth Corps during the final campaign to Appomattox Court House. After General Lee surrendered to Grant, General Chamberlain was given the honor of accepting the formal surrender of arms of the Army of Northern Virginia scheduled for April 12, 1865. After the war, he returned to Bowdin College in Maine where he became president of the college. In 1893, Congress honored him with the Congressional Medal of Honor for gallantry at Gettysburg.
