A small number went home to England.In France many of the Royalists left the nation to estates that they owned in other countries like Austria, Germany or the Netherlands to wait things out. They were considered Enemies of the State and the Revolution and their French Estates were plundered and became State Property. Canada was blessed by the presence of new settlers and America was sorely injured by the loss of so many of their Best and Brightest.
