Additionally, "many" Korean vets fought in WWII (so did the equipment: tanks, planes, warships, etc.).

First it isn't called the cold war. The Cold war was the political conflict between the USSR and the US. At the end of the war the USSR broke up. Georgia and Russia were two of the new countries formed. People are afraid that the conflict could spark a second cold war

The question appears to actually ask what is the situation when there is an armed conflict among people in the same country. If the conflict can be called significant, then it is usually termed a civil war.
