Spain was not damaged very much by WWII. It was not an active participant in the way and thus did not lose resources. However, it had suffered greatly in 1936-37 in the Civil War (when the fascist Franco took power) and this came at the end of the Great Depression. It also lost vital trading partners in Germany, Italy, France and Britain, all of which were heavily damaged by so many years of warfare. However, by the 80s it had joined the European Union.
