Note: I copied this from the answer (also on WikiAnswers) to the question 'What is the average rainfall in ancient Egypt?' Probably similar to present day rainfall in Egypt.
Egypt does not have much rainfall except in the winter months. South of Cairo, it averages only around 2 to 5mm a year at intervals of many years. A very narrow strip of the north coast rainfall can be as much as 410mm, Egypt draws most of its water from the River Nile, which floods at a certain times of the year due to the spring thaw of the snow that falls on Sinai's mountains.
