Rome imported huge amounts of grain to feed her massive population. Half of this came from Egypt, the breadbasket of the empire. Tunisia, Sicily and Sardinia were the other important suppliers.

As a civilization, you have to have seven different qualities. One of them is a stable food supply. As we all know, Athens was a civilization, therefore, they had a stable food supply.
A stable food supply is enough food, you need foodactually im a 6th grader and in my history class a stable food supply means u have food for a long time and i go to north star academyActually, both of you are not completely correct. My class is learning about ancient Mesopotamia and the seven characteristics of civilization (seventh grade) and it is when you have a substantial amount of food- enough food to survive. Not necessarily for a long time, but for a consistent rate. :)
