In 1500, life would have been different depending on social status and wealth. For example, a peasant may have life very difficult, working for a knight or lord ruling the land that they farm on. Knights would own pieces of land in return for allegiance to the king and barons, and the barons would in turn have knights to serve them in battle or in daily life. This was known as the feudal system.

Life in a castle or fort may have been incredibly tough, as the first medieval forts have been made, and because of the harshness of punishments for petty crimes, even if you may have been innocent.
