Among many other inventions, Lord Kelvin is most famous for having introduced the Kelvin temperature scale that is based on absolute zero (-273.15°C).

Lord Kelvin (1824-1907) was William Thomson, 1st Baron Kelvin. A noted physicist, he studied the mathematics of electricity and thermodynamics. The absolute temperature scale (Kelvin) is named for him. He improved the early electric telegraph, and oversaw the laying of transatlantic cables, for which he was knighted by Queen Victoria. William's father was Dr. James Thomson, a teacher of mathematics and engineering at Royal Belfast Academical Institution and the son of a farmer. James received little practical instruction in Ulster; at the age of 24, he commenced study for half the year at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, while working as a teacher back in Belfast for the other half. On graduating, he became a mathematics teacher at the Royal Belfast Academical Institution. He married Margaret Gardner in 1817 and, of their children, four boys and two girls survived infancy. Margaret died in 1830 when William was 6 years old.
Settlers found the New England Colony, William Penn found the Middle Colony (starting a new settlement), and Nathaniel Bacon was a founder of the Southern Colony. A female is included in this pair, but she isn't known for her intelligence of finding the Southern Colony. Yes William Penn found the middle colonies.
Lord Kelvin was born William Thomson and was given the title Lord Kelvin for his services to the country (Great Britain)
The unit of temperature, Kelvin, is named after the physicist and engineer William Thomson, also known as Lord Kelvin. Lord Kelvin made significant contributions to the field of thermodynamics and the development of the Kelvin temperature scale.
Before he was made a Lord, he was William Thomson
William Thomson, also known as Lord Kelvin developed the kelvin scale 1848.
Lord Kelvin had four brothers: James Thomson, David Thomson, William Thomson Jr., and Robert Thomson.
William Thomson (Lord Kelvin) Didn't Have A Wife
The Kelvin scale was developed by William Thomson, also known as Lord Kelvin, a Scottish physicist. It is an absolute temperature scale where zero represents the absence of all thermal energy, or absolute zero.
Lord William Kelvin is a well known scientist and engineer and he invented tide-predicting machine he had heart problems at the age of 9
The famous scientist and engineer was born William Thomson, and was given the title Lord Kelvin. One of the strange things about British lords is that they can then use their title as if it was a surname- so he would sign himself as Kelvin.

Kelvin invented the Kelvin absolute temperature scale and told us that the atmosphere was 70% nitrogen
Lord Kelvin was a professor at the University of Glasgow, Scotland, where he did most of his work, from 1846 to 1899.
