The founding fathers of the United States created a constitution and a government that brought so much freedom and liberty to everyone that surpassed any nation in their time. The huge error Washington, and his colleagues made was with regard to slavery. They took one important step by setting a date where no more slaves could be imported.
The error was not declaring that within a certain date a plan or plans would be created to solve the slave issue. Granted, they were all brought up in a slave laden colony, and even Great Britain did not abolish slavery for another 30 or so years, however, no plans for ending slavery were created.
