Army of the Potomac
Every battle fought by the Army of Northern Virginia was against the Union army.
The Workers' and Peasants' Red Army - or simply The Red ArmyBeginning in February 1946 and until the dissolution of the Soviet Union, its official name was "Soviet Army".
During the US Civil War, there were several Union generals in charge of the Union's war efforts in the East. They were:* George B. McClellan;* Henry Halleck;* Ambrose Burnside;* John Pope;* George Meade; and* US Grant.

The main goal of the Union army in the east was to not be defeated by the Confederacy. This was the main goal of the entire Union Army from 1861 to 1864.
