Between December, 1967 and April, 1968, the North Vietnamese seige of the Marine Corps combat base at Khe Sanh proved to be another major conflict. The dug-in North Vietnamese insurgents were routed 5-7 April 1968 by the U.S. First Cavalry Division to end the siege.
