Guerrilla warfare is simply groups of people out of uniform fighting for their country, mostly in surreptitious actions and sabotage. This has happened in every war I can think of . -Not just the American Revolution and the justification is always that they are not prepared to live under a foreign invader.

Guerrilla warfare is basically hit and run under cover, so the Vietcong during the Vietnam war used guerrilla warfare to combat American soldiers. During the US Civil War, the Rebels also used guerrilla warfare.
It wasn't that unique. Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox) was successful during the American Revolutionary War; Quantrill was successful during the American Civil War (US Civil War)...as two examples. Nearly all wars have had and will continue to have some sort of "guerrilla" warfare.
Many nations have used guerrilla tactics thru-out history. American colonists used it during the Revolution (Francis Marion, the Swamp Fox); Quantrill'sRaiders in the Civil War; the French resistance in WWII; US forces in the Philippines after the surrender in '42. ANY NATION that does not have the capability to combat another nation in a conventional manner; can and will often revert to guerrilla warfare. The tactic of guerrilla is nothing but "hitting someone when they're not looking." (Surprise attacks).
During the US Civil War (aka American Civil War), guerrilla warfare (especially in the beginning of the war) was almost looked upon as a crime (much like spying, sabotage, raiding, etc.). In fact, some officers refused to acknowlege guerrilla actions, lest they be accused of condoning them. For general purposes, without at least "stringing them up" (hanging them), guerrilla warfare was at least considered "ungentlemanly like warfare." This was akin to submarine warfare which occurred in WWI; surface officers (battleships, cruisers, destroyers, etc.) considered sub crewmen to be nearly pirates and wanted them (or at least brought the issue up) hanged as criminals.
Yes, Thomas Sumter, a prominent American Revolutionary War figure, effectively employed guerrilla warfare tactics in his campaigns against British forces in the Southern colonies. Known as the "Carolina Gamecock," Sumter led surprise attacks and utilized hit-and-run strategies, capitalizing on his knowledge of the local terrain. His unconventional warfare approach helped disrupt British supply lines and contributed to the overall efforts of the American forces during the war.

i think there was really no disadvantage of guerrilla warfare during the revolutionary war.
No. He (the Swamp Fox) just happen to use it during the American Revolution. EDIT: Actually Francis Marion was well known for his invention of guerrilla warfare
The Americans were fighting for a cause and because they used guerrilla warfare.

Yes, hit and run raids were part of both wars. However, guerrilla warfare is inherit to nearly all wars. Quantrill was a guerrilla leader against the North during the US Civil War; Francis Marion (the Swamp Fox) was a guerrilla against the Crown (Britain) during the American Revolutionary War. American Indians conducted guerrilla warfare against European expansion since the 1600s...and didn't end until 1890 (at Wounded Knee).

Guerrilla Warfare is a strategy during war that involves small groups of armed soldiers ambushing an unsuspecting enemy unit quickly then pulling out before a large fight ensues. Guerrilla Warfare is used to quickly attack the opposing side without the enemy knowing when or where the attack will occur.
