After the American Revolutionary War, only 10% of the population of the United States was affiliated with any religious group. Various religions tried to remedy that situation with little success. In 1808, a big camp was arranged at Cain Ridge in Kentucky. Various clergymen preached day and night. A revival happened and many were converted. Traveling evangelists copied that style of preaching and many people joined churches. As a result many people became members of religious organizations.
