The main reason is sort of complicated, but to put it as simply as I can, it was neglecting us (The Colonies) and still expecting to profit off of our sales and exports.

The longer answer put simply is that there were a lot of factors (i.e. taxes, stamp act, tea act, etc) until our governors and members of the continental congress came together and came to the consensus to revolt. The individual issues may not have caused a revolt if they had not been exacerbated greatly by the Crown as they grew more desperate to obtain money in order to pay their debts.
