From accounts there was no precipitation on the day of the Tea Party. Although the ships carrying the tea cargo was delayed by bad weather, there was no rain the day of the event. A lithograph made about 50 years after the event show the sky was over cast, but that may be artistic license.

As for participants, the actual number of men involved in chucking the tea into the harbour range from 30 to about 130. Accounts vary. There was, however, a large crowd of people in and around the docks who were part of a growing protest against the tax. Some reports have the number of residents milling about at around 7,000, but they didn't take part in the actual tea dumping.
