The Americans, British, and Canadians had an assortment of weapons including M1 Garand Rifles, Thompson sub-machine guns, "Grease" guns (an American sub-machine gun), Springfield .30 (a sniper rifle), Browning Automatic Rifle (B.A.R.), and Sten gun (British sub-machine gun)

The whole arsenal: aircraft, naval gunfire, artillery, tanks, mortars, mines, machine guns, rifles, grenades, bayonets, rocks, and fists when and as required.

Technically they allies had very little of the above mentioned arsenal of weapons. They only air cover provided was a couple of straffing runs made p-51 mustangs at the beginning of the assault, (on the beach) they only fire their guns (20 mm it think) and had only 500 hundred pound bombs at the most. Naval gun support was SEVERELY lacking, only the 4 in and 3 in guns were used. They had absolutely no battleship or even draught ships to speak of. These ships in particular, would have been useful ( 12- 14 inch guns). The communication web broke down almost immediately, there was no control of the naval fire ( no spotters, F.O.O.) to correct the aim of the naval gunners shots. The best in mortars the allies had were 2-3 inch in size, compared to the german's 81 mm.

The only thing the allies needed to use that day: COMMON SENSE! SHOULD HAVE CANCELED THE OPERATION FROM THE GET GO ( SECOND TIME EX: OPERATION RUDDER)
