What were Julius Caesar's strengths?

Epilepsy and quest to reunite Rome after Diocletian totally ruined it by splitting it into 2 halves. Uh, actually that last was Justinian, about 400 years after Julius Caesar. He did have epilepsy though.

Julius Caesar was a human being and therefore had weaknesses just like everyone else. He was arrogant and power hungry. That was his downfall. Seutonius also says that he was not always honest in money matters. He liked to overspend and that he was dodging debtors. Loot was his main reason for going to Gaul.

He was a very good military general/ leader and one of of the top three men back then. He could be described as the ancient version of the "renaissance man". In addition to his military abilities, he was also a great writer and an excellent public speaker. He had a wide range of interests covering legal issues, the calendar, politics, building projects, and had a personality that had no patience for delays. However that same personality had charming aspect to it and because of it, his political enemies did not hate him personally, just politically, Cato excepted.

He cultivated loyal friends who helped him by filling in his weaknesses. For example, he knew he was no military man, but his friend Agrippa was, so he gave Agrippa the top military authority. He allowed his wife to advise him in certain areas because she had knowledge of the people with whom he was dealing. Another of his strengths, again building on his patience and political insight, was his implementation of change in the government. He eased the government from the republic to the principate. One of his sayings or quotes is "Make haste slowly".
