Yes, a very good General who was inspirational to his men. However he is not going to find many fans in Ireland: Indeed I, as an Englishman, cannot condone religious destruction, especially when women & children are slaughtered in the name of God ! He became Lord Protector & was offered the Crown. He was succeded in this by his son, prior to the restoration in 1660. I suppose the kindest thing to say about him is that he upheld the rights of Parliament. But he is a very good reason, in my opinion, why Republicanism is not good, certainly no better that the Monarchy system.

Where as other people think Oliver Cromwell is a horrible man and deserved to die ! :)
