drydock is a ship
The Fleet's fuel supply depot, drydocks, repair facilities and the missing aircraft carriers.
The proper term is Marine railway. this is a tracked structure on a steep ramp used to launch ships( having been newly built or repaired) into the water on what are called cradles, do not confuse with drydocks equipped with pumps or flood gates- opened in front to ( float out) the ships.
The United States Territory of Hawaii (it didn't become a State until 1959) maintained the primary U.S. Navy & Marine Corps fleet and air stations for defense and patrol of the entire Pacific at Pearl Harbor and the surrounding areas. There were also forward deployed units in the Philippines.Aside from the fleet docks/fueling storage/drydocks at Pearl, there were also Army Air Corps/Marines Corps/Navy airfields for both island territorial defense and disembarked air squadrons not attached to carriers. There were also fleet command centers and medical facilities on the island.
The Japanese Military: Japan did not ensure that the Aircraft Carriers were in Pearl Harbour before attacking. Japan did not listen to the advice of the man who designed and lead the Attack on pearl Harbour. He said (Para-phrased). "Japan should not enter into a war with America at this time, Japan will lose that war". The American Military: Did not train the officers in charge of Pearl Harbour in the significance and proper use of information provided by the new Radar System. Direct intelegence of the impending attack on Pearl Harbour was not comunicated to the on site Comanders in an Effective Manner.
Two waves had been sent into Pearl harbor demolishing the battleline and airforces present. Vice Admiral Chuichi Nagumo cautiously (and perhaps mistakenly) decided not to launch a 3rd wave to destroy the oil tanks and drydocks at Pearl. His concerns were the increasing casualties he incurred in the 2nd wave and the still missing US carriers which posed a threat to his fleet. The most important thing to examine is that if the American administration in fact knew about the attack on Pearl Harbor, then is it not a huge calculated risk that the Japanese would not conduct a "third wave," completely incapacitating the base at Pearl for use in the Pacific Theatre?
Dubai Drydocks was created in 1983.
Port Rashid, near Bur Dubai
The ships are built in drydocks which can be flooded to float the ships out.
Yes. Many drydocks and salvage ships are made of concrete.
Harland & Wolff built Titanic by starting from the keel, completing the hull, then fitting it out in separate drydocks.

Yes, instead of launching the third wave which was to target fuel storage facilities and repair drydocks at Pearl Harbor, the Japanese Fleet elected to head back to their home port in case the missing US carriers made an appearance.

This appears to be a normal docking area for large boats that cannot be hoisted by crane out of the water. Once a boat has pulled in, and is shored up underneath, to be drained of all the water, thus leaving the boat in "dry dock" for repairs. When repairs are completed, the area is filled up with water and the boat is able to float again.

Dry docking entails bringing a vessel to dry land so that submerged portions of the hull are cleaned and inspected. This type of work is preventative as well as a regulatory requirement. Drydocking refers to removing a ship or boat from the water using a drydock. An underwater dry dock is primarily used to inspect, repair, and maintain underwater parts. As a common name for drydocks, graving docks are constructed on land near the waterfront using concrete, blocks, and lock gates. A dry dock is flooded when a ship is docked by opening the lock gate. A locked gate is put in its place and the dock is pumped dry, allowing the craft to gradually rest on blocks resting on the dock floor after it has been brought in and properly positioned. Floating docks, Syncrolift / Shiplift, and Slipways are other options for removing a ship from the water.
