Feudalism and the Church.
If I could meet three progressive reformers, I would choose Jane Addams, known for her work in social reform and founding Hull House, which provided services for immigrants and the poor. I would also want to meet W.E.B. Du Bois, a pioneering civil rights activist and co-founder of the NAACP, whose advocacy for African American rights was groundbreaking. Lastly, I would choose Ida B. Wells, a fierce journalist and anti-lynching crusader, whose fearless efforts in social justice and equality were revolutionary. Each of these reformers significantly impacted society and their insights would be invaluable.
Three key factors that helped Martin Luther's movement spread across Europe include the advent of the printing press, which enabled the rapid dissemination of his writings and ideas; the rise of nationalism, as many sought to challenge the authority of the Catholic Church, viewed as a foreign power; and the support of influential political leaders and reformers who saw the movement as an opportunity to gain autonomy from church control and consolidate their power. These elements combined to create a fertile environment for the Protestant Reformation to flourish.
Puritans were English Protestant reformers who followed the teachings of John Calvin. They were given the name "puritans" because they wanted to purify the Church of England of Catholic beliefs and practices. They believed that human nature was inherently depraved and that all men and women bore the guilt of Adam and Eve's original sin. Pilgrims were separatists. They believe the Church of England was too corrupt to be reformed. They felt that Christians who were "saved" should separate themselves from those who were damned. The "Saints" should only worship with those who have been saved, not with "sinners".
The main ideas of the Catholic reform included: 1) to purify the Church of abuses. 2) to stem the tide of people being dragged out of the Church by the protestant heretics. 3) to systemize the education of the clergy and that laity to prevent another such disaster.
Reformers were most upset by three main issues: The village priests married and had families, which was against Church rulings. Also, bishops sold positions in the Church, and this was called simony. Finally, kings appointed church bishops, and the Church reformers thought that the Church alone should appoint bishops. These all were part of the reformers' hope to get back to the basic principles of the Christian religion.

We know of no church with three popes. No such animal.
