There were four main types of shelters during the blitz. The earliest versions were called Morrison shelters, which were rectangular shaped and made of very heavy steel. Another type of shelter was a public shelter, these were used for people who lived in flats and by people at work. The public shelters weren't liked by citizens. Finally, in London the underground railway stations were used as shelters, as they were very deep. Thousands of people slept on the platforms every night.

The Jamestown settlers primarily used matchlock firearms, which were among the earliest types of guns available in the early 17th century.
