I have never read anything, or even heard of, Beard's views on what the constitutional authors thought of a Democracy. The authors of the Constitution expressed themselves publicly to everyone who would listen, and Beard's views are irrelevant on the subject as he was not an Author or debater of the constitution; being born 100 years after it was written and debated.
Those men who wrote the constitution specifically stated, even Jefferson stated, that the United States was formed as a Representative Republic and not a Democracy (several quotes from the Federalist Papers).

The Age of Revolutions brought on by liberalism, called for freedom and equality which led to the rise of democracy.
Democracy does not guarantee equality of income, or equality based on ethnicity or gender, or equity of people’s control over their lives.

Oppurtunity, Rights, Liberty, Democracy and Equality
The motives of the framers of the constitution was to create a country whereby peace, justice, equality and freedom could be preserved and enjoyed. The other motive was for the constitution to be binding and protective for the future generation.
If women, Black individuals, and other minorities had been delegates at the Constitutional Convention, the Constitution might have included more explicit protections for civil rights and social justice. Issues such as gender equality, racial equality, and the rights of marginalized groups could have been addressed more comprehensively, potentially leading to earlier abolition of slavery and suffrage rights. The language may have reflected a more inclusive vision of democracy, emphasizing the importance of representation and equality for all citizens. Overall, the foundational principles of the Constitution might have been more aligned with modern values of diversity and inclusion.
equality of opportunity and equality before the law
Equal Opportunity
Alexis de Tocqueville's theory of Democracy is based on three "generative principles." The first of these "generative principles" is equality of conditions. For Democracy to exist there must be equality. In his famous work Democracy in America, Tocqueville states "rights must be given to each citizen or to no one." It is this equality of conditions that serve as the seeds of Democracy. According to Tocqueville, this equality of conditions served as a "generative principle" for Democracy Another "generative principle" for democracy was sovereignty of the people. Just as sovereignty of the people is a "generative principle," so is public opinion. Public opinion is what drives democracy. Despite the prospects of the tyranny of the majority, Tocqueville felt democracy was the way of the future. He believed that democracy was the destiny for modern nation states and that monarchies and aristocracies would soon disappear. Democracy represented the negation of the aristocracy. Tocqueville used the term "providential" when describing the spread of democracy. Tocqueville wanted to convey a sense of predetermined historical and divine triumph. In order for democracy to triumph the "generative principles" of equality of conditions, sovereignty of the people, and public opinion needed to exist.
Equality, Liberty, suffrage.

One reason is that democracy equals freedom that no other form of government offers.
