Two reasons: 1. Its part of history; if history is not important, than neither is the Vietnam War. 2. If history is important to the educational system; then the Viet War is important for many reasons; here's but 3 of them: Todays all volunteer military and a voting age of 18 (instead of age 21) are a direct result of the war. And third, every time you see a HELICOPTER in the sky, the Vietnam War put it there (by pioneering the helicopter for everyday use).
