The Americans had a major uproar that is also known as War of Independence. In the end, the war stopped when the British signed a treaty that gave Americans their independence and also the halt of receiving convicts from Britain. That day was July 4th which is now known as Independence Day.

Convicts are typically under the authority of prison wardens, correctional officers, and other staff employed by the corrections system. These professionals oversee the day-to-day operations of prisons and ensure that inmates are securely held and supervised.
Male convicts were allowed a ration of meat per day (1lb of salt pork, beef or mutton) and 1 to 2lb per day of flour or cornmeal to make damper. If there were lucky the meat they received would be fresh but it was usually far from it. The convicts were also supplied with some tea and sugar and usually managed to buy tobacco and rum. Female convicts were given two-thirds of what the male convicts received. The convicts didn't receive and fresh fruit or vegetables, but those convicts who were lucky enough to receive a good posting were allowed to grow their fruit and vegetables on a small plot of land.

14-18 hours a day was the usual amount the convicts had to work a day The above is an exaggeration. Convicts did not have to work such long hours except in harsher colonies such as Port Arthur, Tasmania. The average would have been between ten and twelve hours a day. It also would have depended on whether the convict was assigned to a free settler, or whether he worked on the road gangs or other tasks.
