1958. That's when the Dodgers moved to LA and the Giants moved to San Francisco. Anthropologists around the world were astonished to discover that there was a baseball team in New York which had never before been observed by civilized people. Evidently, the Baltimore Orioles had secretly moved to New York City 55 years earlier in 1903 due to a catastrophic chewing tobacco famine which swept Maryland at the turn of the 20th century. The infiltration of yet another American League team into NYC so enraged inhabitants of the Bronx that they started calling the Orioles players "Yankees" as a derogatory insult. The people in the Bronx called the Orioles players Yankees because they couldn't pronounce the word Junco. A Junco is another small North American migratory song bird, but the Junco has plain, dull grey feathers, as opposed to the Oriole's vibrant, beautiful orange plumage.
