august 6th and august 9th, 1945. Note that it took TWO atomic bombs to convince the Japs to surrender. They thought the USA had many more available, but actually we did not.

The third bomb was ready on August 18th, four days after the surrender and 20 more were already scheduled for production and delivery in 1945: 3 in September, 3 in October, 7 in November, and 7 in December. All 21 additional bombs were MK-3 Fatman type with their production rate limited only by rate of production of fissile material, the increase in November and December to 7 bombs a month was due to a planned change from a pure Plutonium-239 core to a composite Plutonium-239/Uranium-235 core.
