The town was laid out in 1899. (My mother first went there in 1900). Today it is small community of about 300 families, a Coop Elevator, a school, a half dozen churches, two quick stop gas and convenience stores, a small park with a football field and a Baseball field and a long unrepainted welcome sign that lauds itself as the Home of Champions. Four or five days with a good pair of D-9's should be capable of returning it to the prarie that it once was. Perhaps the Water Tower should be left in tact, it was a right of passage to place your mark on that structure when you turned sixteen. (I hope that my name still appears there).

Oklahoma City was chosen as the capital of Oklahoma primarily due to its strategic location and rapid growth following the Land Run of 1889. Its central position made it accessible to a larger population, facilitating governance and commerce. Additionally, the city demonstrated significant development, with a burgeoning economy and infrastructure that supported its selection as the political center of the newly established state.
