The USB dongle for internet connection was not invented by a single individual but rather emerged from the collaborative efforts of various technology companies. The concept evolved as a part of the broader development of USB technology and mobile broadband solutions in the late 1990s and early 2000s. Companies like Huawei, ZTE, and others played significant roles in popularizing USB modems for mobile internet access.
Between 1998 and 2001, SanDisk, which was formerly known as M-Systems, was involved in developing DiskOnKey and USB flash drive. M-Systems sold their USB type devices under the names like DiskOnKey and Diskey.
