The contract for the first ENIAC system was signed on 5th June 1943 and it was constructed by John Mauchley and J. Eckert at the University of Pennsylvania's Moore School of Electrical Engineering from July, 1943. It was unveiled on February 14, 1946 at Penn, USA.ENIAC stands for Electronic Numerical Integrator And Calculator. The ENIAC was the first American digital computer in the modern sense of the word.
Z3, an electromechanical programmable computer was invented in Berlin. ENIAC, the first general-purpose electronic computer was invented at the University of Pennsylvania.
ENIAC (Electronic Numerical Integrator And Computer)
They are the people who invented the ENIAC and UNIVAC I computers. John Mauchly and J. Presper Eckert met in 1942, when the Army asked University of Pennsylvania to have a class of scientists to help the war effort. Eckert was the teacher in this class and Mauchly was a student. They both attended the Moore School of Electrical Engineering at the University of Pennsylvania.
The first computer made in Pa. was the Eniac at the University of Pa. The first microcomputers was the Altair, an early computer kit. The first commercial microcomputer was the Commodore Vic 20 manufactured at West Chester, Pa.
