Why were Muslims more successful than europeans when it came to having a greater influence on history?

This was only true during a short period, roughly 1200-1500 when Europe suffered several catastrophic invasions and influxes of illness such as the Great Plague which wiped out a third of Europe's population. Situated as they were between Europe and Asia, the Muslims benefited from the scientific developments in both continents. For example they acquired the plate armour technology from Europe, whilst learning of Chinese gunpowder. The Muslims were also famed mathemiticians, great explorers and traders. The middle ages were a golden age for Arabic arts and literature, and for these reasons the Muslims greatly influenced history during this time.

Why did Muslims come to US?

Got elected to Congress (Keith Ellison) and as Mayor (in Bergen New Jersey), taught students in elementary schoool, high school and college; wrote great books (Fazlur Rahman); worked as slaves in the fields of the South and in the factories of the North, served in the military as enlisted men and officers, started businesses, worked as doctors and lawyers and in short, did most things most people do here. For a history of MUslims in the US see A History of Islam in America by Kambiz GhanneaBassiri.
