Kilauea has been erupting almost uninterrupted since Jan. 3rd, 1983. There have been many different episodes to this eruption, however different episodes do not define a different eruption entirely. The episodes only define a different way the eruption is evolving, for example if the eruption shifts from one area to another it is still the same eruption just a different episode of that eruption.
