Most of the answers to this question have to do with the 2012 Mayan precdiction of the end of the world. Many people have predicted many dates for the end of the world. Obviously, so far they have all been wrong--except that there are still predictions about future dates. We won't know for sure that these are wrong till the time comes and passes. See the related link for a list of doomsday predictions.

Stop thinking that the world is going to end in 2012. Don't be fooled by the movie 2012. That movie was just called 2012 to trick people into thinking that the world was going to end. They just want to get money out of you. Nobody on Earth knows when the world will end, but God. Some have tried to make predictions about the world ending, has never been right. Some peple actually believe that California will fall into the ocean. I thought that the world would end, but then i read the bible, The bible says the complete opposite.

Foreshadowing
There were predictions that the world would end on June 6, 2006, but those predictions were proven false as the world did not end on that date. Many doomsday predictions throughout history have not come to fruition, and it's essential to approach such predictions with skepticism and critical thinking.

No, scientists do not agree that the world will end in the year 2000. Predictions about the world ending are not supported by scientific evidence and are considered pseudoscience. The world continues to exist beyond the year 2000 based on scientific understanding.
