A Carillon is a musical instrument composed of a series of tuned bells ( traditional) or in modern cases, electronic tone generators. The general rule is a minimum of 23 bells make a carillon. The word, of course, is French. A large, claimed to be largest in the world, fixed , remotely operated electronic carillon was displayed and operated somewhat oddly by the Coca-Cola Company at the l964 World"s Fair, the tower was l20 feet, the vertical limit on fair structures. The instrument had 6l0 tone generators. After the Fair, it was sensibly re-located , modernized much more tone generators were added, and emplaced at the Stone Mountain area in Georgia. One can safely assume Confederate battle songs are among the repertoire. Both instruments were made by Schulmerich.
