Stringybark Creek.Lead by Sergeant Kennedy,with Constable Thomas Lonigan(was included as he could identify the Kellys), Scanlon and McIntyre who rode out from Mansfeild.They were not in uniform but were very heavily armed.Their intentions were to bring them in dead as they bought along a pack horse fitted with heavy leather straps,made especailly for their expedititon.Ultimatley these were to lash tightly to the bodies of Ned and Dan for their return to Mansfield.
