Robert Menzies initially went to a one-room country school, which were often called "rural schools", where all year levels were taught in the one room. This was in Jeparit, a small town in northwestern Victoria.

Later, Robert Menzies went to Humffray Street state school for his last two years of primary school. At the end of 1907, Menzie achieved the highest marks in the whole state in the scholarship examination.

After graduating here, he went on to Grenville College in Ballarat. His family moved to Melbourne after this, as his father believed young Robert had a good future in Parliament. Menzies enrolled in Wesley College in Melbourne, joining here instead of Scotch College, which his father would have preferred. He eventually graduated in Law at Melbourne University, completing his schooling in 1918.
