Where did the Native American Indians come from?

The commonly accepted theory - and it is just that, a theory - is that the American Indians migrated to the North American continent using a now-defunct land bridge linking Asia (Russia) to North America (Alaska).

The reason the native Americans look Mongoloid (as they have been thought until recently) is perhaps where their ancestors were from.

It may be asked how did they make it over to America in such times when there weren't any ships. The answer would be that enough of the North Atlantic would have been frozen over during the Ice Age for them to have got across.

(If Native Americans were truly descended from an early "caucasian" people, then wouldn't they look more caucasian? Wouldn't they not have the epicanthic eye fold or the asian-like hair and the tanned-dark skin which they have?)

There are different theories out there. Some researchers believe Native Americans arrived during the last Ice Age, when the sea level was low enough that there was a land bridge between Siberia and Alaska. The ancient Siberians, related to the Mongolians, Chinese, Koreans, etc., crossed this land bridge into Alaska. Over the centuries, it is belived that they migrated south across the continents of North and South America. Another theory posited by researchers is that Native Americans came by boat across the Pacific, not in a single journey but rather island hopping, populating one island after another, including Hawaii. As for the Inuits who arrived separately at a later time, they are believed to have crossed the Bering Strait by an ice bridge where the water froze to a point where it could be walked on, allowing them to cross from Asia to North America. Inuits are believed to be originally from Siberia and share many characteristics with modern Chinese. Inuits spread out from Siberia to Alaska, Northern Canada and Greenland. They had crossed the land bridge, following the herd of animals wich they hunted. The land bridge was a bridge of ice that formed from other continents to North America. That's when they crossed it. Then, it dissapered again. They're from Siberia

Native Americans however are consider to be cousins of Chinese, Koreans, Japanese, etc., but are still categorized under the same race as them as Mongoloids. Native Americans have closer resemblance to Pacific Islanders than they do with East Asians, whereas Inuits resemble East Asians. On a side note, the last crossing of the ice bridge between Asia and North America was in 2006 by a Briton and a French American, walking for fifteen days from Alaska to Russia. Note: There are many evidences that support these theories such as irrefutable DNA analysis. Even today, Native Americans are classified as Mongoloids along with their East/Southeast Asian cousins. An Irish man is a Caucasoid, and a African is a Negroid. To make comparison between Native Americans to East/Southeast Asian as to Irish and African is absurd. Furthermore to be more proper, if you were to make any sort of comparison, it should be European to Middle Easterner, rather than comparing a single group of European when there are so many and compare it to a whole another race. To answer a few more absurd questions by the previous poster: 1) In reference to so called white Indians in Quebec if there is such a thing. Not being able to trace their ancestry back to any Europeans does not amount to anything. How many East Europeans trace their ancestry back to Mongolia? These Indians could simply have mixing from the Vikings. 2) In reference to Native Americans actually came from America itself because their myths said so is absolutely absurd. Native Americans didn't realize there were people in other continents in those ancient days or else their myths would also add that they migrated to Europe, Asia, Africa, and Australia and populated those lands. Everything comes from somewhere, whether you're atheist or creationist. Apples came from China, horses came from Europe, etc.
