The Million Man March was a mass gathering of African-Americans in Washington, D.C. on October 16, 1995. It was organized in an effort to "convey to the world a vastly different picture of the Black male" and to unite the African American community, in self-help and self-defense against economic and social issues facing the community. While the spirit may still exist, the movement does not. This ended up simply being a one-time event, rather than a movement or organization that moved forward.
Congressman John Lewis was the youngest speaker on the podium being only 23 years old.
WWI veterans held their bonus march in Washington, DC (not a state).
The goal of the Million Man March was to bring attention to issues that minorities were facing. The march was held on October 16, 1995 in Washington D.C.
