I have a carousel horse I bought already put together, that is made out of a "Spring" horse. It has a square wooden base, and pole. There is a square hole cut out of its belly that has a wooden block in it, to support the weight I assume. There is also a hole that is round where the poll comes out at the point of his withers on top. Here are some pictures.
