The BBC television series "Land Girls" was filmed primarily at the historic Wiston Estate in West Sussex, England. The estate provided the backdrop for the rural setting of the show, which focused on the lives of women who worked on farms during World War II. The picturesque scenery of the estate contributed to the authenticity and visual appeal of the series.

Patricians owned most of the land and either rented plots of land for plebeians to farm, or had slaves farm the land.
Where they worked - the girls wove cloth, the boys worked on the farm.
Farmers needed special plows to farm the land in the Plains of the U.S for a few reasons. One reason was that so much of the land needed to be plowed.

Kansas. Actually, I have the movie, and "behind the scenes" says it was filmed in Canada, but the author of the book lives on a farm in Kansas, where his family has lived for 5 generations, having purchased the land from the Indians (don't remem which tribe).
It was mostly filmed in North Yorkshire in the UK, around Skipton and Settle.
