Sadly the truth is the Cold War had started as at the end of WW2. Quite why this was, the lack of good feeling in the relations between the Russians & the West, I really cannot say. The question is, I think, a bit chicken & egg, neither set of events did anyone much good really, the bad feelings in international relations were a portent of things to come for a generation & beyond.
